Bus driver trainee *Fiscal year appointed employee

(1) Those who meet all of the following requirements:

①Those who obtained a Class 1 ordinary vehicle license (AT only allowed) before April 1, 2025

②Those born on or after April 2, 1996 (Heisei 8)

(2) Those who fall under any of the following categories are ineligible to take the exam:

(1) A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment or a heavier punishment and has not yet completed the sentence or is no longer subject to the sentence.

②Anyone who has been dismissed from work as an employee of Ube City Bus for disciplinary reasons and has not yet passed two years since the date of such dismissal.

3. Any person who, after the date on which the Constitution of Japan came into force, has formed or joined a political party or other organization that advocates the violent destruction of the Constitution of Japan or the government established under it.

Training course

Overview

① [Bus Driver Trainee] (April to June 2026)

　・Assistance with affairs under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Bureau 

　・Obtain a Class 2 heavy vehicle license (including special training for exam eligibility) at a driving school (training camp) designated by the Transportation Bureau

② [Bus Driver Trainee] (July-August 2026)

　・Practical training as a bus driver

③ [Bus Driver] (From September 2026)

　・Route bus driving (mainly operating route buses within the city) and chartered bus driving (operating tourist buses within and outside the prefecture and operating school buses for special needs schools)

From April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027

*Depending on work performance, you may be re-appointed. 

■There is a system in place for bus drivers to be promoted to regular employees.

*If you are unable to obtain a Class 2 heavy vehicle license within the period specified by the Transportation Bureau or if your work performance is poor, you may be dismissed even during your employment term.

Working hours and holidays

① [Bus driver trainer]

　Working hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm

　Closed: Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

*During the license training camp period, you will follow the driving school curriculum.

② [Bus driver trainee] 

　Working hours: 8:30am - 4:15pm

　Holidays: Saturdays (working once a month), Sundays

③ [Bus driver]

　Working hours: 5:40am - 10:30pm

*The above hours will be worked in rotation.
* The average working hours per １day is １１ to １２ hours (maximum １３ hours), including breaks and waiting time. (Average working time is ７ hours)

　Holidays: 3 days work, 1 day off (3 days work, 1 day off)

Commuting allowance

(※1) Due to the short period of employment, this is not the full amount.

(※2) If you are appointed as a bus driver, your allowance will be increased.

In accordance with Article 22 and Article 22-2, Paragraph 7 of the Local Public Servants Act, all employment is conditional, and an employee will be officially hired as a fiscal year employee once he or she has worked well for one month after being hired.
